4~$~s"N~°y CITY of PLEASANTON
~ -
*° Plannin Commission
~MYfO ~
-° g
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING.
Date : January 9, 1973
Time : 8:00 P.M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
He gave some personal background on
himself, Mr. Brians indicated that he
had supplied Mr. Schoendienst with
some material for his presentation.
He pledged his support to the pro-
tection of Pleasanton as well as
Livermore as far as airport expan-
sion is concerned.
He told the Commission that the
majority of complaints received by
his office are from Pleasanton resi-
dents. This is due mainly to the
fact that there is a training area
between Pleasanton and Dublin, which
is generating violations of low-
flying aircraft. Livermore is a
reliever airport and over fifty per-
cent of the aircraft domiciled there
is owned and utilized by people not
residing in the Livermore-Amador
Valley. There is no way the airport
can turn away these aircraft if they
fall in the category permitted to
utilize the airport.
IAt the present time, the airport
averages about 250,000 operations
iper year, with a high count of
270,000 operations registered three
,years ago. The runway can take
'.308,000-310,000 operations per year
',,safety with a control tower.
Chairman Pons then asked Mr. Brians
if the report presented by Mr.
'Schoendienst, is, in his opinion,
factual. The answer was in the af-
firmative, but that Livermore does
not go along with the RASS Study
figures (4,000,000). Mr. Brians
stated that runways will not be ex-
tended in a westerly direction. He
also made reference to the new type
of jets which have a very low noise
level.
-4 -
