CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
Dote ; February 13, 1973
Time ; 8:08 P.M.
PIOCB: Pleasanton Justice Court
Commissioner McLain spoke about the growth
rate and holding capacities and what number
can be accommodated that would not overcrowd
schools and alleviate Public Works improve-
ment problems. Perhaps this can be taken
on a 5-10 year scale or on a graduated basis
He indicated he could not make a recommenda-
tion at this time.
Commissioner Garrigan wished to clarify that
all Mr. Castro wished from the Commission
that evening was a "ballpark" figure to take
back to the General Plan consultant.
Acting Chairman Pereira disagreed, feeling
instead that even a "ballpark" figure might
find itself being used as a firm basis for
further computation.
Commissioner McLain offered a figure of 650.
The City Manager emphasized the importance
of some sort of recommendations by the
Commission in order that further study can b
continued.
Acting Chairman Pereira then offered a
figure between 500 and 800.
One of the Parks and Recreation Commissioner
recommended that perhaps the City should
reverse the procedure - choose what the City
should have as far as improvements and then
compute the appropriate growth rate to accom
plish this.
The City Manager advised that the sub-commit ee
of the General Plan is doing this. Discussion
ensued.
Under the present circumstances, and under-
standing the motives behind the requirements
needed by staff, it was the Acting Chairman'
recommendation that the 800 Growth Rate show
be endorsed. Commissioner Garrigan suggeste
a graduated 500-800.
-16-
