PIQ Ce; Pleasanton Justice Court The City Attorney stated that with the appli- cation of a restaurant being proposed for development on St. Mary Street, the fact that insufficient parking exists for the core area in general and for the facility specifically, a great deal of activity has been spurred by various groups, in an attempt to resolve the parking deficiency problem. Mr. Scheidig further explained that there is a section in the ordinance pertaining to off-street parking facilities, which he is intending to amend. He urged passage of the draft ordinance presented by him. Several questions were raised by the Commissi relating to funding of the parking lot. They specifically discussed the parking area pre- sently being used by City employees at the present City Hall location. The applicant of the restaurant has indicated that they would intend to utilize this lot for their customer parking, after the City Hall fiacil- ity is open and in operation on Bernal Avenue Mr. Scheidig stated that he thought the lot in question had been acquired with gas tax monies, which would have to be repaid. There is also the question of perhaps declaring the land surplus property, in order to not have any problems with the Government. 'Mr. Jack Bras, speaking on behalf of Mr. Je Bindi, stated that the creation of in-lieu parking would be a very slow process. All the applicant was asking for is a variance to the parking requirements to allow him to construct the restaurant with less than the required number of parking spaces. Discussion followed.
