CITY of PLEASANTON <br />Plarvning Commission <br />MINUT~~ ~QF REGU~~AR MEETING. <br />DCte ~ August 8, 1973 <br />Time; 8:05 P.M. <br />Pla C8; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Grossman. <br />;Mrs. Joyce Grossman confirmed that the appli <br />;cants are purchasing the Ark School in <br />;Pleasa nton from her. She told the Commissio <br />(that the operation would remain basically <br />the same as that operated by her and her <br />'husband. There will be one variation in tha <br />Mr. Bass intends to go more to the psycholog <br />of the child since this is his field. <br />Commissioner Pereira asked what the hours <br />of operation would be and the number of <br />children. Right now, the operation averages <br />25 full-time children in a day. Between <br />9:00 A.M. and 11:45 A.M., there are 70 <br />children on the premises. From 12:30 P.M. <br />to the end of the day, there will be an <br />additional 12 children, making a total on <br />the premises for the afternoon hours of 37. <br />'Mrs. Grossman indicated that she would not <br />be participating in the program after the <br />Bass's take over. She is retiring for <br />health reasons. <br />Commissioner Wood inquired whether the opera- <br />tion could develop into a doctor's office- <br />type of arrangement, and would there be <br />emotionally disturbed children attending. <br />Mrs. Grossman clarified that it has always <br />been the policy of the Ark Schools to accept <br />physically and mentally retarded children <br />but only after consultation with the parents <br />and physicia n. The Bass's intend to continu <br />with this policy. <br />Mr. Leonard Grossman told the Commisai on tha <br />approval had been given to the applicants <br />from the State, and that essentially, they <br />will continue with the same kind of operatio . <br />In closing, Mrs. Grossman stated that they <br />had been approached by several people to <br />take over the operation, but that the only <br />-10- <br />~~~ <br />,~ <br />\\ <br />\\\ <br />\\\\\ <br />»~» <br />
