CITY of PLEASANTON <br />Piaruning Commission <br />MINUT~$ ~pF REGUE_AR MEETING. <br />Date t September 12, 1973 <br />Tims ~ 8:02 P.M. <br />PIQCe: Pleasanton Recreation Center <br />Commission any requests for the use of the <br />adjacent 3,000 sq.ft. of retail space. <br />~IDiscussion then centered on the circulation <br />patterns into and out of the center. Mr.Bra <br />~~indicated that he would be happy to work wit <br />;the staff in resolving this problem. <br />Also present to speak for this application <br />was Mr. Ted Fairfield of the engineering fi <br />of MacKay & 6omps. He expressed concern and <br />surprise regarding the position taken by the <br />City Attorney on procedures to be followed <br />regarding PUD applications. He was convince <br />that this application is in substantial con- <br />formance with the General Plan. Mr. Fairfie <br />further indicated that the builders are loca <br />and intend to retain ownership. They would <br />be happy to submit any proposed use to the <br />Commission for approval. Some types of uses) <br />they have in mind were: ice cream parlor, <br />restaurant, cleaning establishments, beauty <br />shop, barbershop, etc. <br />Further information given to the Commission <br />was that surrounding property owners of the <br />site in question were notified of this appli- <br />cation, but no comments were received by <br />the staff. <br />The Public Hearing was then closed. <br />The question of the allied retail use adjace <br />to the convenience market was discussed and <br />the desire of the Commission, was to discour <br />competition to the proposed commercial neigh <br />borhood shopping center, but at the same <br />time provide some use within this applicatio <br />which would be a service to the people in <br />the area. Lighting of the center was a nothe <br />factor for consideration, since the lands <br />around this site are zoned for single family <br />e <br />~~ \\ <br />\\\\\ <br />\\\\\ <br />-5- <br />
