CITY of PLEASANTON
Plaruning Commission
MiNUT~~ ~QF REGUi_AR MEETING.
Date ~ November 14, 1973
Time : 9 :15 P . M.
PtGCB; Pleasanton Justice Court
'Mr. Fred Brooks, Lampman & Associates
the City's consultant, made the
presentation. He explained the
procedures they follow to get the
most input to do the job. They are
now working with staff on the pre-
Iliminary costs for development of
~Ithe site. The cost will be fairly
high for this park because the loca-
tion is a little more isolated.
A description of the park indicates
that the eastern four acres will be
used for soccer and other active
youth sports, said site to be
surrounded by a berm. Next is an
older youth play area related to the
age group of fifth to sixth graders
to junior high school. There will
be a multi-purpose court area to
accommodate perhaps basketball,
roller skating, dancing, etc. Also
included in this central part of the
park is a recreation building, which
could also be utilized for meetings,
etc. To the west is a shaded
picnic area, followed by open mea-
dow and some more shaded picnic
areas to the extreme west. There
was a high cost estimate for this
last, because of the high fill
situation. Also, a bike trail is
noted at this westerly end.
Mr. Brooks indicated that although
the park is visible from the free-
way, once the individual is in the
park, this does not become apparent
'to him. Certain small areas have
been left untouched in this plan,
reserved for future development, such
as one portion to the south. The tot
lot and shade tree/picnic area at the
southeast end exiting on Denker Drive
was also noted.
-6-
