CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING.
Data November 14, 1973
Time ; 9 :15 P.M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
Commission the night before.
Mr. Brooks of Lampman and Associates,
felt that this park has potential
as it will give the community iden-
tity. They anticipate high usage of
the park. He provided examples of
the types of functions which could
take place there such as fashion
shows, weddings, ladies club meetings
etc.
Access will be well controlled in an
attempt to curb vandalism. Both
ends of the park will be secured at
night.
A small parking area to the central/
east end is being provided. The
tot area will be located northeast
of the parking area.
Next, Ms. Helaine Kaplan of Lampman
& Associates, who did the background
work, described for the Commission
the history of this property and
how they attempted to gear the
design and type of plantings to that
era. Lampman and Associates decided
to pick a farmhouse theme of early
agricultural Pleasanton, and to
recreate that atmosphere.
There will be willow and locust
trees along the drive to the east.
Fruit trees will be planted in the
back. A pebbled duck pond is
planned for the northwest end with
a foot bridge, waterfall, and wind-
mill. A willow tree will stand next
to the pond.
The existing plantings will be sup-
plemented with magnolia. Also, an
Indian monument is to be added on
the west central portion lying with
a grove of trees.
-9-
