CITY of PLEASANTON
Plaruning Commission
MINU'~~>~ ~pF REGU~_AR MEETING.
Dpf4j November 21, 1973
Tune = 7:30 P.M.
FlcCej Pleasanton Justice Court
the Commission is attempting to for-
mulate some position to offer
guidance to Council for their consi-
deration of these elements.
Discussion followed. It was empha-
sized that if any groups did not
approve or concur with the position
taken by .staff or Commission, they
should make their feelings and
position known to City Council.
Present to speak for the Community
Concerns Committee were Messrs.
Bill Hogan and Dick Pearson. Mr.
Hogan pointed out their differences
with what staff has noted.
In general the CCC agrees with staff
goals and recommendation toward
establishing housing for the income
distribution noted in the 1970
census. However, with staff revi-
sions, some parts of that goal will
probably not be accomplished. They
will be recommending some strengths
to be added to certain areas, parti-
cularly relating to the $8,000-
$15,000 income groups. This is
the segment which this element is
weak on.
Mr. Pearson then spoke. He utilized
statistical information gathered from
various employer sources within the
Valley, such as City Government,
Lawrence Livermore Lab, Kaiser and
the school districts. The median
income derived from his survey was
approximately $13,700 and comparing
this with the prices of available
housing, he found there were consi-
derable discrepancies. In effect, ~~
they found from their surveys that
there is a deficiency of housing
~\\
\\~\ \
~»»>

-10-
