CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
SPECIAL
MINU~~~- ~QF X MEETING,
Date f February 20, 1974
Time"~ s:o5 P.M.
Place; Veterans Memorial Building
Next. Mr. John di Man to spoke. He
stated he had attended a presentation
at Walnut Grove School on February 7,
1974, and the choice was three to one
for the northern route. This was his
choice as well. He cited traffic
congestion problems because of antic-
ipated use of Station D by San Ramon
residents totaling about 100,000,
which could be alleviated by placing
,another station at W. Las Positas
',B1 vd., and Santa Rita Road. He felt
',that the cost factor, plus more part-
icipation from the west end of the
(Valley would justify selection of
Station F. He closed his remarks
'with the question as to who would
'ibe the deciding body on the final
(choice. Chairman Pereira indicated
(that the City is responsible and has ~,
!,been asked to make a recommendation ~,
Lto BART's Board, and the Board, in I
!turn, has the responsibility of a
',final choice. The Planning Commis- '~
sion's choice will be forwarded on
Ito Pleasanton's City Council.
'I Mr. di Manto requested that the Com-
mission give due consideration to
the west end of the Amador-Livermore
;Valley in the selection of any stati
'site.
Mr. Bill Hirst wished to know whether
BART had figures of existing usage
at a given station, and if so, is
20,000 people an inordinately large
number to be served by one station?
Mr. Blayney stated that this would
depend on the area in question. One
further method would be to use patron
age projections which have not yet
been finalized because BART is behind
schedule . There is ample opportunity
to change the size of a station to
suit the demand.
~9~
\\
\~\\\
\\\~\
\»»
