He closed his remarks <br />with the hope that BART's directors <br />will recognize their obligation to <br />these areas . <br />Mr. Goode indicated that this feeling <br />should be communicated very clearly <br />to the Directors of BART. <br />Mr. Trimingham felt that Mr. Goode <br />could not come here this evening and <br />promise Pleasanton that whatever this <br />city requests can be done without any <br />obstacles. The purpose of the meetin <br />is to choose a route. This should bel <br />settled. The money factor is a late r, <br />.situation to cope with. His personal; <br />choice would be for the southern <br />route with the subway if they want ~ <br />',it. He felt this should be clearly <br />'stated to the BART people. He had <br />'.several questions regarding possible <br />;selection of the northern route, and <br />cif it later develops that the southeri <br />(route would gather more participation <br />(would BART consider the southern <br />route? Mr. Goode indicated that <br />justification could not be made for <br />!an alte rnative like that. Economic <br />°•~lfare as well as services to the <br />mmunity and its effect on said com- <br />nity would be the basis for choice. <br />. Trimingham further inquired whethE <br />RT, immediately upon selection of <br />final route, negotiates for right- <br />-way purchase. He felt this would <br />a definite advantage to BART. Mr. <br />od stated that once a route is <br />cided upon there is a Federal pro- <br />am by which they may go in and buy <br />e rights-of-way.
