CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
SPECIAL
MINUTF8 ~QF f~6B~x~ METING.
Dat4 = February 20, 1974
Time! 8:05 P.M.
pIGCe~ Veterans Memorial Building
Discussion then settled on feeder bus
services and Mr. Blayney stated that
it is assumed that there will be
Valleywide bus service. Certainly,
the greatest need would be in the San
Ramon area, especially between Danvil
and Dublin. Commissioner Wood won-
dered if it is conceivable to have
bus lines between Dublin and Walnut
Creek, why not between Dublin and
San Leandro now? Mr. Goode stated
that eventually, it is intended to
have a bus line between Dublin and
Bayfair in San Le andro. Commissioner
Wood wanted to know what the schedule
would be, and Mr. Goode indicated tha
the bus service application is now
pending in Washington where it has
encountered some labor problems . Whe
this phase is done, the grant will be
forthcoming. The route to be utilize
!would be patterned after a study done
;several years ago. In this area,
'there will be two routes - through
Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin to
Bayfair, with some express services
'jprobably from Livermore directly in.
Mr. Jack Bras wanted to know - (1) if
!the community decides on the southern'
';route, it should be emphatic about
the undergrounding, as he believes an
aerial structure would be terrible.
How realistic is the idea of obtainin
jthe SPRR right-of-way in the next
X10-15 years? (2) regarding the in- ~
creased cost of $24,000,000 for the
;southern route, does it contain in-
flationary possibilities? Mr. Goode
replied (1) SPRR is willing to relo-
cate to the WPRR lines. The BART
.route would act as an instigator to ~~
'accomplish this. It involves a savinC
in operating cost to the railroad
company. (2) The final increased cost
t?ould be as high as $50~000~000.
e
\\\\
»~»>
_ _ ......... ....~___.... __ -'lo--... ~...___ _._..__. .. _ .__1. __ ..
