CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DCtB : December 11, 1974
Time : 8:18 P.M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
purchased nine acres of land on the
south side of Stanley Boulevard, im-
mediately north of the Vineyard
Mobile Home Park . They intend to use
this site as a large substation to
serve the Pleasanton area. Distri-
bution lines from this substation
will be underground, however, the
transmission line feeding the station
is planned for above ground because
of the high voltage involved.
(23,000 volts.)
Photographs showing the type of
power poles to be used were passed
out to the Commission for their
review.
P.G.&E. has requested that the Plan-
ning Commission review the transmis-
sion line route and make their re-
commendation.
In addition P.G.&E. must receive
certification from the California
Public Utilities Commission. A
prerequisite of this certificate
is the preparation of an EIR. Also
since the substation is adjacent to
Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, the
East Bay Regional Park District
board reviewed the proposal and
adopted a resolution prohibiting
the transmission line on any portion
of the park lands . They recommended
another route bypassing their pro-
perty.
P.G.&E., offered three alternative
routes, which were described by
Secretary Harris. They intend to
keep the lines in as low profile
as possible, therefore, they are
hunting for the lowest grounds and
-3-
