4y~~8A"~°~ CITY of PLEASANTON
~~~
,o
Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEET ING.
Dote ; December 11, 1974
Time : 8:18 P.M.
Place; Pleasanton Justice Court
There are 3 options: 1) show entire
28-1/2 acres as Limited Industrial,
2) only designate 12 acres in Office
and 16-1/2 acres in Limited Industria
or 3) show entire 28-1/2 acres as Prc
fessional and Administrative Offices.
It is staff's position that not enou
is known at this point to certify
that City can utilize 28-1/2 acres
in office.
Considerable discussion ensued among
the Commissioners as to the types of
office uses within this area as op-
posed to that which would be within
the C.B.D.
Both the Chairman and Commissioner
Carrigan reiterated that the ration-
ale behind the Commission's voting
for the amount of office acreage was
to encourage establishment of re-
gional headquarters uses. Mr. John
Bowling stated that the Industrial
area will take care of this need.
Secretary Harris's concern goes be-
yond that because the office zone is
general in description.
The staff has no concerns about show-
ing the 43 acre northern section as
Highway Commercial if this is put in
PUD and the City can stipulate the
types of uses which go in and which
are complementary to industrial uses.
Mr. Dick Karn was present and sum-
marized the position of his client,
Willow West. They could take 12
acres and the remaining 16-1/2 acres
in Professional and Administrative
Offices. He feels there is a market
for such a use and that those uses
will not conflict with the downtown
development.
-11-
