~8A~~° CITY of PLEAS
4y~ y ANION
\ ~,~ •
`~'~~~` Planning Commission
w ao
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR METING.
DG18 : February 13, 1975
Time : 8: oo P.M.
PIOCB; Pleasanton Justice Court
which requires the lower density
designation on sloping lots.
Commissioner Butler conceded there is
a bad traffic situation and that the
citizens' concerns are valid. How-
ever, it is not necessarily an appro-
priate point to be brought out at
the point of zoning. He feels it is
a concern, however, which should be
kept in mind.
'Acting Chairman McLain agreed with
the Secretary's position, but where
does one draw the line? He is very
concerned when Planning Commission
deals with any rezoning, especially
after it is still so fresh in their
minds from the General Plan review
where the members dealt with down
zoning of land to reach a level of
holding capacity that the City deemed
necessary because of environmental
impact reasons. And then to get a
rezoning to match the recommendations'
that are in the General Plan and have
opposition come forward. He did not
wish to be critical of those who
spoke against the recommendation, but
he had to wonder where was this same
pressure when the General Plan amend-
ment process was being gone through
to come up with the process now.
Considerable discussion ensued.
Commissioner Butler stated that it is
important to remember that if this
property is zoned R-1-6500, it is
very likely that the people in the
area now opposing the zoning would
have the smallest lots in that area.
Maybe it would be increasing the
lot sizes far beyond what is suitable
for the area. It is also his belief
that the latest revision in the mas-
ter plan, also shows this area in the
medium density residential.
-8-
