,,,"°'° CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte : June 24, 1975
Time : 8:0o P.M.
PIGCe: Pleasanton Justice Court
continuing efforts to encourage them
towards further development, within
the parameters of the character es-
tablished for the downtown, should
be stressed.
It was felt that repaving of Main
Street may be a factor of encourage-
ment to landowners. Discussion
centered on the south end of town,
and the Edgren property, which Com-
missioner Garrigan thought was the
key to development in that sector.
At this point, Commissioner Garrigan
brought up the matter of Pleasanton
Greens and the fact that the City
got burned bad on this one, since it
has not turned out to be housing for
low-income people. Also the dust
problem on construction needs to be
controlled. Secretary Harris in-
formed the Commission that no changes
had been made in the design of the
development.
John Bowling then told the Commission
of several beautification projects
underway for the downtown. The Rotar
has donated wine barrels which will
be turned into trash containers and
will replace the candy-striped litter
cans which have-not worked out too
successfully. In addition, the
Women's Club has donated nine benches
and specific locations for them will
be picked. The Chairman cautioned
that the Police Department may need
to be aware of the locations, since
an ill-placed bench could produce a
loitering problem.
-7-
