4~$~SA~~~y CITY of PLEA~ANTdN <br />,. . <br />`~'~~° Plannin Commission <br />.~..o g <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />DGte : June 24, 1975 <br />Time : 8 :oo P.M. <br />PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />It was felt that perhaps both the <br />press and the Chamber of Commerce <br />could assist the City with this pro- <br />gram. <br />Director of Housing and Community <br />Development John Bowling, stated that <br />about six weeks ago, the City met <br />with the Chamber and it was that body <br />who worked on elimination of A-board <br />signs in the downtown. The City in- <br />tends to meet again with the Chamber <br />to solicit their assistance to remove <br />the balance of the unsightly signs. <br />He suggested that the Commission <br />could also work with the Chamber to- <br />ward this end. He suggested that the <br />Commission members walk the downtown <br />area as a group and note the signs <br />they consider unattractive. Chair- <br />man Wood reminded the staff that he <br />had requested that they take pictures <br />of signs they consider attractive or <br />otherwise, and wondered what became <br />of that suggestion. John Bowling <br />indicated that the biggest problem <br />here is lack of staff for such pro- <br />jects and its enforcement... Commis- <br />sinner Garrigan then offered to do <br />the picture taking. <br />Commissioner Butler offered to work <br />with the Chamber Board o f Directors <br />on this matter. The type of amend- <br />ment to be made in the code must be <br />decided on and publicized. Much of <br />this work will need to be done throug <br />volunteer help, since. staff is short- <br />handed. <br />Future development of the downtown. <br />Commissioner Garrigan stated that he <br />did not know how to urge downtown <br />land owners to do anything.
