4y~AgA~~°y CITY of PI.EA-SANTaN <br />~ '.~ . <br />~~~° Planning Commission <br />~rrso <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />Date June 24 , 1975 <br />Time : s:oo P.Ni. <br />PIOCe; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />denied and the applicant has the <br />option to appeal it to the Planning <br />Commission. <br />The Chairman, once again stressed <br />that there is the downtown area, and <br />publicity regarding home occupations <br />given by the press has been benefici-I <br />al since one person has moved, to the <br />downtown who previously had been <br />operating a bakery from the garage. <br />T,he Chairman then touched on the <br />problem of the legal requirement of <br />publishing a notice of intent to <br />conduct a business. Often, this is <br />misleading, because it gives the <br />name of the business and the home <br />address. And although it is the type <br />of business Commission would permit, <br />such a publication would automatical- <br />ly infringe on the atmosphere of resi <br />dential neighborhoods , by giving the <br />wrong impression. Commissioner <br />Butler felt that such businesses are <br />in competition with the downtown <br />merchant. <br />Secretary Harris did indicate that <br />the Ordinance Code is very liberal <br />on home occupations at this time, an <br />the Chairman indicated that perhaps <br />the ordinance can be amended if nec- <br />essary. <br />Commissioner Carrigan felt that per- <br />haps it could be tabled for several <br />meetings , with staff in the meantime <br />researching possible changes in- <br />volving such activities as storage <br />and manufacturing, etc. <br />A motion was then entered by Comis- <br />sioner Carrigan affirming in princip <br />the general policy that the Director <br />of Planning has been following and <br />-4- <br />
