Abstain: <br />Secretary Harris explained that this <br />request for a home occupation was <br />denied administratively since it did <br />not meet the criteria for staff ap- <br />proval and hence, it was appealed to <br />the Planning Commission. <br />Mr. Johnson was present and explained <br />that he had conducted this same type <br />of business in the City of Yorba Lind <br />for many years before moving to <br />Pleasanton, when his job transferred <br />to Palo Alto . He indicated that he <br />only intended to conduct the TV repai <br />service part-time . Additionally, his <br />neighbors do not object. He explaine <br />that generally, he repairs the unit <br />in the customer's home. When it is <br />necessary to bring the unit home, it <br />will be only the chassis. <br />Upon inquiry from Commissioner Sheph d, <br />Mr. Johnson stated that he intended <br />to go into business full-time, hope- <br />fully, next year. <br />Mr. Johnson emphasized that he is ' <br />only doing this part-time now in <br />order to keep his State of Californi <br />resale license alive. He indicated <br />that he would have a Dodge van which <br />is kept in the garage. <br />Chairman Wood noted that here again <br />is a situation where the Planning <br />Commission liaison member could aid <br />in finding a suitable commercial lo- <br />cation for the business. <br />IX <br />-9- <br />
