that there will be no rowdiness tolerated including profane language. <br />He said there will be adult supervision during all of the operating <br />hours. He further said no smoking will be allowed. He introduced <br />Bob Lundquist who previously worked for Marriott's and who is pre- <br />sently with Chuck E. Cheese as Vice President of special projects. <br />Bob Lundquist, spoke to the concerns some citizens in other areas <br />have expressed with regard to the negative aspects. He also explained <br />the positive, hand-eye coordination, etc. with the children. He said <br />he is concerned with putting forth are very best foot forward in <br />improving the game and game room operations and Mr. Hirst has <br />taken a number of steps to make sure his operation will be a positive <br />one. He explained the game room will be built on three levels so <br />that there is observation from any point in the room. He said there <br />will be a train-related theme, employees will be wearing costumes, <br />etc. He said there will be a selection of games which will not <br />just appeal to the 12-17 year old male but the entire family. <br />He said it has been his pleasure to work with Brad and urged the <br />Commission to support the application. <br />Commissioner Lindsey asked Mr. Lundquist if he has been involved in <br />establishing other game rooms which are similar and if so, have <br />these been successful. <br />Mr. Lundquist stated he has never had a negative instance and has <br />been involved in the establishment of other game arcades. He said, <br />in fact, they are becoming a family entertainment center. <br />Brad Hirst stated he has been to various schools in Pleasanton, has <br />all of the school schedules and has met with school principals. He <br />said it is the concensus of opinion that the games provide a positive <br />activity for the young people. He said the elementary schools have <br />a closed campus and will not be allowed at the game center during <br />school hours. He said that Amador has an open campus. He said <br />they have a system devised where if they suspect high school students <br />of being truant, they will ask for identification cards to deter- <br />mine their name and schedule. He further said they will be giving <br />tokens to children who bring in their report cards with "A" grades, <br />plan activities for the Youth Bobby Sox teams, etc. <br />Exterior of the Building - Mr. Hirst addressed the suggestion that <br />was ma e to him that young people will hang out on the property and <br />younger children will be afraid to enter the game room. He said <br />he will provide greater security for the facility than now exists. <br />He said he will also furnish bike racks. He said there will be flood <br />lights in the southern portion of the parking lot and that he has <br />made arrangements for an off-duty police officer to be present. He <br />said his success will be determined on how well he operates the <br />business, including the maintenance of their parking lot. He said <br />he has contacted the tenants of the sYiopping center and has contacted <br />the police department with regard to two of their needs.
