Hopyard Road now occurring that this street will be easier to travel
in a month or so.
Mr. Pastor asked about the trees shown in the development and whether
or not fully grown species would be planted. Chairperson Getty
indicated that most development plan approvals require 15 gallon
trees.
Mr. Harris reviewed condition number 2 proposed for the development
which referred to tieing in development of the business park with the
necessary traffic improvements.
Commissioner Lindsey asked the staff to elaborate with regard to
Item No. 4. He said the City Council and Planning Commission would
still have control over all of the buildings. Mr. Harris indicated
that the pictures presented tonight are not receiving approval but
the conceptual plan is and that all buildings would have to come
before the City Council, Planning Commission or Design Review Board
for final review and public hearing.
Jackie Sullivan spoke to the 25 year time schedule for development.
Mr. Callahan said he would be surprised if it were 90~ built out
in less than 20 years and explained that the traffic reports spoke
to the worse case situations.
Mrs. Sullivan then addressed air quality.
Dr. Hogan, Earth Metrics, explained the requirements of the Bay Area
Air Quality Management District, EPA and others.
Mrs. Sullivan said she wanted to be sure that the quality of living
in Pleasanton is maintained and asked what assurances she could have
with this regard.
Mr. Callahan stated they have worked out an agreement with the staff
that each building in the project must go first before the Planning
Commission and then City Council on a case-by-case basis all the way
through and if there is a problem caused, it would be remedied. He
stated that they have learned from their mistakes and no problems
will occur. Mrs. Sullivan asked if she would be heard if she did
come down and speak on each building. She said that the people in
the audience have been completely ignored. Mr. Callahan said they
have a tremendous investment in the property and public improvements
and they will do nothing to jeopardize their interests.
Chairperson Getty addressed the various agency requirements with regard
to air pollution. Mr. Swift said there are oxidents in the air right
now which come from other Bay Area cities. He said perhaps the
Planning Commission might want to address this. Mrs. Sullivan then
addressed the West Las Positas overcrossing and asked if the City
would continue to recommend the widening as originally proposed.
Chairperson Getty said at the present time it will be two lanes.
-13-
