Planning Commission
Page 3
5/26/82
Mr. Harris reviewed the staff report and recommendation. He further
stated the area is closer to 30 acres including the Southern Pacific
right-of-way.
Commissioner Jamieson asked if the Bernal Avenue extension would eliminate
any buildings. Mr. Harris stated it would probably remove the Corral
restaurant. Commissioner Wilson asked if there would be an underpass or
overpass. Mr. Warnick responded that with regard to the Western Pacific
tracks an underpass has been proposed.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Jamieson asked if this rezoning included the property which was
part of the sewer plant. Mr. Harris said this property was not included.
Commissioner Jamieson then asked if this was part of the area which was
sprinklered in the past. Mr. Swift stated that the Catholic Church property
and portions of the Water Department property wwere sprinkled. Commissioner
Jamieson then asked the effect of this with regard to ground salts.
Mr. Warnick responded that there is a larger area by I-680 where the
Health Department indicated they wanted to see the property go one year
without being sprinklered prior to growing any crops on it.
Commissioner Wilson asked if the 10.4 acres is going to be adjacent to the
new Bernal Avenue extension. Mr. Harris indicated that it would be. A
motion was then made by Commissioner Doherty, seconded by Commissioner Wilson
that case RZ-82-8 be recommended for approval as recommended in the staff
report.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Doherty, Jamieson, Lindsey, Wilson
and Chairperson Getty
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. 2175 was then entered and adopted recommending approval of
Case RZ-82-8 as motioned.
Chairperson Getty stated that she understands that in yesterday's
edition of the Wall Street Journal there was mention of suitable industrial
development on I-680 and Bernal Avenue. She asked which property this
article was referring to. Mr. Harris stated he didn't know but the
only property he could think of was the Meadow Lark. Dairy property and that
this would be more than 100 acres.
RZ-82-9, City of Pleasanton
Application of the City of Pleasanton to rezone the lots on the east side
of Main Street between Abbie Street and the Southern Pacific Railroad
tracks from the "O/C-O" (Office-Civic Overlay) District to the "C-C/C-O"
(Central Commercial-Civic Overlay) District or to any other zoning
district consistent with the .General Plan. A negative declaration of
environmental impacts was also considered.
...._ _.. _.._T
