PUD-81-30-9D, Prudential Insurance Company of America
Application of Prudential Insurance Company for development plan
approval of a 42,600 sq. ft. building and related facilities on
an approximately 5.0 acre site located on the south side of West
Las Positas Boulevard, immediately west of Tassajara Creek. Zoning
for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development)-Industrial/
Commercial and Offices District.
Mr. Harris summarized the staff report. Mr. Warnick stated he would
like condition number 7 amended to read as follows:
That the left-turn pocket in the West Las Positas
Boulevard median shall be relocated, redesigned,
to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
The public hearing was opened.
Curt Atschul, 6324 Calle Altamira, spoke for the Citizens for Balanced
Growth. He urged the project be put off for the outcome of litigation
now in process. Mr. Swift said there is nothing to prevent the
Planning Commission from taking action on this application, and in
fact, the Planning Commission must take actions on applications within
the legal time frame.
Roger Gage, Prudential Insurance Company, said Mr. Harris had
summarized their request and would be happy to answer any questions.
He said that even though this request is only being made for the
first phase of a two phase project they intend to put all of
the parking area in as shown on their master plan and that the land-
scape will also be completed with phase one.
Commissioner Wilson asked about the sign program on their map.
Mr. Gage said this was also under consideration tonight. Mr. Harris
said that the signing program should come back under a separate
application.
Commissioner Doherty asked when United Grocers planned to break ground
for this building. Mr. Gage indicated this would be done in November
1982.
A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner
Doherty that case PUD-81-30-9D be recommended for approval.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Doherty, Getty, Wilson and
Vice Chairperson Jamieson
Noes: None
Absent: Chairperson Lindsey
Abstain: None
Resolution No. 2228 was then entered and adopted recommending approval
of case PUD-81-30-9D as motioned.
-14-
