Commissioner Wilson said he feels that the number of units proposed
is a bit much and would like to see the number reduced by at least
six. He said this would make it equal to RM-2500 zoning.
Commissioner Doherty stated that the City needs rental property.
He referred to page 104 of the revised housing element. He said the
developers by experience have determined they can fill units through
rentals as opposed to purchase and they intend to rent the units for
10 years and that is better than what the City has right now. He
further said that traffic on Vineyard Avenue has always been a problem
but that someone is trying to do something; Valley Business Park
representatives, CPS & Associates are pushing to get Valley Avenue
through to Santa Rita Road and suggested that citizens support this
action. He suggested that interested citizens contact Gregg Davies
of CPS in support to get this done. He said he supports Commissioner
Wilson's statements and would be willing to see the project reduced
by six but that rentals are needed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner
Doherty that the Negative Declaration prepared for case PUD-82-20
be recommended for approval because approval of this project would
have no significant adverse effect on the environment.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Doherty, Getty, Wilson and
Vice Chairperson Jamieson
Noes: None
Absent: Chairperson Lindsey
Abstain: None
Resolution No. 2226 was entered and adopted recommending approval of
the negative declaration prepared for case PUD-82-20.
A motion was then made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner
Doherty that case PUD-82-20 be recommended for approval subject to the
conditions of the staff report amending condition No. 5 as requested
by Mr. Robert Harris and changing condition No. 1 to read as follows:
That the development be substantially as shown on the development
plan, Exhibit A, on file with the Planning Division except that
the number of units shall be reduced by six.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Doherty, Getty, Wilson and
Vice Chairperson Jamieson
Noes: None
Absent: Chairperson Lindsey
Abstain: None
Resolution No. 2227 was then entered and adopted recommending approval
of case PUD-82-20 as motioned.
-12-
