Mr.
Cox said they will in Pleasanton because it would be a prohibitive
cost not to do so. He said they do not recycle water at their
other locations.
Chairperson Lindsey asked about the hours of operation of the pro-
posed convenience store. Mr. Cox said they don't plan to be open
24 hours per day and that in his Tracy station they have closed at
midnight since he took over three years ago. He said he can see, at
least for the time being, there is not a need in this community for
a 24 hour operation for the convenience store. He said he would
like to have flexibility in this regard even though at this time
he doesn't intend to stay open 24 hours.
Chairperson Lindsey asked the applicant if they had any comments
concerning the proposed sale of beer and wine. Mr. Cox said an
operation like this is only as good as the person who operates
the business and that his record stands for itself. He said he
generally hires adult persons who work at his station part-time
on a regular basis and since he pays more than the minimum wage
he gets a reliable staff.
Gary Mello, Bissell and Karn, 135 Morrison, Fremont, spoke repre-
senting Hacienda Business Park, in total favor of the project.
The public hearing was closed.
Mr. Harris stated he would like clarification regarding the siding
of the structures. He said he was under the impression it would
be wood and not metal. The applicant responded that it would be
wood.
Mr. Swift informed the Commission that the formal agreements relating
to the City, Hacienda Business Park, Shell and others has not yet
been signed but is in process. Mr. Urban said he has been working
with Erick Wong of CPS, and said he feels everything is near
settlement. He said he does not want the project held up because of
the size of the driveway and if staff insisted on a 35 ft. wide
driveway, that was okay with them. He said this is a $700,000
project and they are not even paying for much of the landscaping.
He said the sign at this point is the only concern he has.
