<br />Mr. Harris reviewed the Staff Report. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />No one addressed this matter. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Jamieson, to initiate a General Plan amendment on the property shown <br />in the Staff Report to change the zoning from Open-Space - Parks and <br />Recreation to Medium Density Residential and High Density Residential. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />Ayes: Commissioners Getty, <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: Commissioner Doherty <br />Abstain: None <br />Jamieson, Wilson, and Chairperson Lindsey <br />GP-82-11, Diocese of Oakland <br />Application of the Diocese of Oakland to amend the General Plan <br />designation of approximately 13 acres of land located on the south <br />side of Bernal Avenue extension immediately west of the Southern <br />Pacific Railroad tracks from High Density Residential to Commercial <br />and Offices. A negative declaration of environmental impacts will <br />also be considered. <br />Mr. Harris reviewed the Staff Report. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Jim Steadman, Walnut Creek, representing the Diocese of Oakland, <br />addressed the Commission. <br />Mr. Steadman reviewed the past history on the Diocese of Oakland's <br />property ownership in Pleasanton stating that the Diocese had owned <br />the subject property since the early 50's. He explained tree sale of <br />part of their property to the City. He further stated that they <br />felt the property they retained would be designated Office-Commercial. <br />Mr. Steadman stated the Diocese has fully cooperated with the City <br />in the past and that the sale of their property to the City was done <br />at a reduced price. <br />Mr. Steadman stated that the Diocese does not want residential use <br />for their property and do not have any plans to develop it as such. <br />He referred to a general plan map on the. wall and explained why he <br />felt the use they are requestinq is appropriate. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />Commissioner Getty stated she felt this area was a perfect spot for <br />High Density Residential development. <br />-5- <br />
