q~~~BA~~~~ CITY of PLEASANT®N
~~,
'~~• Planning Commission
~o
I MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte : September
Time : 8:45 P.M.
PIoCe: Pleasanton
8, 1976
Council Chambers
use in the C-C (Central Commercial)
District.
Secretary Harris briefly explained
staff's position which is not to
recommend approval of the ordinance
amendment, those reasons being
spelled out in the September 8 staff
report.
The Public Hearing was opened.
Mr. Frank Louthan and Mr. Mark Gerto
were both present at the hearing.
Mr. Louthan, owner of the Exxon sta-
tion at 320 Main Street, spoke. He
felt that there are very few unde-
veloped lots in the downtown, so
there is no possibility of a proli-
feration of car washes in the CBD.
The site in question involves the to
immediately adjacent to the Exxon
station and actually fronts on East
Angela Street, and is adjacent to
residences.
The Public Hearing was closed.
Commissioner Shepherd could not
visualize a full-service car wash
operation on Main Street.
Chairman Butler clarified that this
was a request from the City Council
that the Commission take another loo]
at this ordinance amendment. Deputy
City Attorney Levine explained that
essentially, this is a report from
the Planning Commission to the City
Council.
After further deliberation, the
Commissioners felt that their ori-
ginal position on this matter should
be upheld, and adopted a resolution
unanimously recommending to the City
Council that this ordinance amend-
ment be disallowed.
-7-
