Another possible location considered was Valley at Santa Rita.
A motion was then entered and adopted recommending a third bus shelter
location on the east side of Vineyard at First Street; plus the other two
locations recommended in the staff report of First and Neal by the Chamber
office, and at Hopyard and West Las Positas. Commissioners felt the First
and Vineyard location should be #1 in priority if it is possible to locate
a shelter there.
Roll Call Vote
Motion: Shepherd
Seconded: Wood
Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, Shepherd, Wood, Chairman Butler
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
The Commissioners then turned their attention to review of the benches,
which the Soroptimists Club would like to donate to the City. In a
December 7, 1976 memorandum, the locations mentioned were Valley and
Santa Rita, Stanley at Santa Rita and Sunol and Arlington.
The Commissioners wondered if it would be possible to stay with the style
of benches which are in the downtown area. They requested that this avenue
be explored. As far as location for the benches, they felt that could be
left to staff priorities as contained in Assistant to the City Manager
Walker's report.
A motion was then entered and adopted to the effect that the Commission
would go along with staff priorities as far as location for the benches,
but with the request that staff explore the cost involved in attempting to
stay with the design of the benches in the downtown.
Roll Call Vote
Motion: Shepherd
Seconded: Wood
Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, Shepherd, Wood, Chairman Butler
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
Initiation of rezoning procedures for property bounded by Bernal Avenue_,_
Main Street, Angela Street and Augustine Street.
Secretary Harris explained that this is a step to bring the current zoning
into conformity with what is shown on the General Plan.
A motion was then entered and adopted initiating rezoning of the property
noted in the foregoing from C-C to RM-25 or RM-4, to be scheduled for the
January 12, 1977 meeting.
Roll Call Vote
Motion: Shepherd
Seconded: Wood
Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, Shepherd, Wood, Chairman Butler
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
-8-
