Mr. Larry Geoffrion, 3850 Vineyard Avenue,
Manager of Sunset Pools, was present and indicated no objections to any
conditions of approval. He felt the addition of the pool would be an asset
to his business.
Chairman Butler had a question regarding a possible condition pertaining to
covering the pool when the office is not open for business. Commissioner
Wood asked whether the cover would need to be solid or of some sort of mesh
material.
Commissioner Shepherd indicated he was at a loss as to how to proceed.
Basically, he does not like the idea of a swimming pool in this area. But
he is at a loss as to a good reason. He shared staff's safety concerns.
Chairman Butler explained that he had had similar fears, but by making the
use conditionally allowed, he felt that the City can carefully review each
site.
Discussion also ensued about possibility of placing an alarm at the site
to warn when someone enters the pool.
Commissioner Jamieson continued to state objections since he did not feel
it would be appropriate and safe to locate a pool in the area.
The Public Hearing was closed.
-4-
