Commissioner Tnlood reaffirmed his position that encouragement should be
given to maintain office uses within the downtown area. He felt there
could be problems with allowing smaller office sizes in an industrial
complex. Perhaps the Chamber of Commerce might reaffirm its position
and offer some direction to the Planning Commission.
Commissioner Doherty indicated he would need more time to think about this
request.
Chairman Butler instructed staff to place this matter on the agenda as a
regularly scheduled item for the next meeting.
REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA
Secretary Harris asked to add Item 7d - Conflict of Interest Code review
to the agenda.
Item 10a, Review of Alameda County Referral of the 1290th Zoning Unit,,
application of Joseph Madden to rezone 7.65 acres on Stanley Boulevard
The staff had received a request from the applicant to continue this item
to allow him time to do research on traffic engineering. Mr. Bill Hirst,
local attorney, spoke for Mr. Madden and explained that the traffic
engineering figures were not available. The applicant will be acceding
to staff recommendation for annexation of the property to the City, but
right now, he has not had sufficient time to evaluate his position.
Additionally, the applicant has requested a continuance of this matter
before the County Planning Commission but there are no guarantees the County
will abide by their request. After further discussion, the Commissioners
decided to go along with Mr. Madden's request, and a motion was entered
and adopted continuing this referral review until April 13, 1977.
Roll Call Vote
Motion: Shepherd
Seconded: Doherty
Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, Shepherd, Wood, Chairman Butler
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
PUBLIC HEARINGS - NEW BUSINESS
PUD-77-1, P & M Development Company - application to rezone approximately
1. acres located on the west side of Sonoma Drive between Junipero Street
and developed lots to the south of Junipero Street, from the RM-2500
(Multiple Residential) District to the PUD (Planned Unit Development)
District and for approval of a development plan for a proposed 13-unit
"garden court" home subdivision on the 1.42 acre site.
The staff report was described by Secretary Harris.
Discussion ensued regarding the design of the proposal, fence heights,
alternate lot lines, etc.
Regarding sewer capacity, Secretary Harris indicated the applicant hopes
to obtain sewer connections in the upcoming April allocation. Deputy City
Attorney Levine told the Commissioners they are currently issuing 130 units
for next year.
-2-
.... .. _.__..r,.T~..`... ..._.. .. .. _._.__.~ __... _... ... ___.. ~, _.__... ...~ . .. .. .. .. ... ._.. _..... .. ..... ..
