Chairman Jamieson then moved to hear projects involving persons in the
audience ahead of those involving just the Planning Commission. He
addressed the audience and there was no one in attendance who objected
to this motion. He then addressed Council Member Brandes and asked if
moving "Matters Initiated by the Council Members" to the top of the
agenda was working well for the Council. Mr. Brandes indicated it
worked very well for the Council.
Commissioner Leppert then stated that last night, Jan
City Council heard two items appealed by City Council
by the Planning Commission at their December 13, 1978
the appeal of the approval of the Planning Commission
Engineering was upheld and that the appeal concerning
was denied.
nary 9, 1979, the
which were approved
meeting. Elliott for a conditional use permit to allow the
operation of a supermarket in the neighborhood shopping center to be
located at the southeast corner of Tawny Drive and Pico Avenue. The
site is zoned PUD (Planned Unit Development) District.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report. He further stated Gary Byrne,
of H. C. Elliott would not attend this Planning Commission meeting due
to a previous commitment. He stated Mr. Byrne indicated that if there
was any problem with this project, he would prefer that it be continued.
A check of the audience at this point indicated there was no one else
present from H. C. Elliott. Mr. Harris indicated the staff recommends
approval of the supermarket and believes that all of the findings could
be made in this case and asked that the Planning Commission approve
this case subject to the conditions shown on the staff report of
January 10, 1979.
Chairman Jamieson asked whether or not this proposed project concerns the
total project or one building. Mr. Harris indicated the only item under
consideration at this meeting is the market.
Commissioner Geppert stated that regarding the PUD approval, discussion
indicated that the building would be done in phases. He then asked which
phase the market came under. Mr. Harris indicated the market is shown
under the first phase.
Commissioner Jamieson then asked the name of the market involved. Mr.
Harris replied he thought it was Flair Markets, but was not sure.
The public. hearing was opened.
As no one addressed the Commission, the public hearing was then closed.
A motion to approve UP-78-36 was made by Commissioner Doherty, seconded
by Commissioner Geppert. Mr. Jamieson then commented this market would
take some of the traffic off of Vineyard having a good impact on the
area.
Resolution No. 1708 was then adopted approving UP-78-36 subject to the
conditions outlined in the staff report of January 10, 1979.
-2-
