Planning Commission
June 13, 1979
Page 5
GP-79-07 was continued until July 11, 1979.
RZ-79-10, City Council
Application of the City of Pleasanton to rezone a 6.6 acre site located at the southwest
intersection of Valley Avenue and Hansen Drive from the C-N (Neighborhood Commercial)
District to the R-1-6500 (Single-Family Residential) District or any other zoning district
consistent with the General Plan.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report. As there were no questions of staff, the public
hearing was opened.
Ted Fairfield spoke representing the property owner. He stated that they accept the
staff report with one exception and that is for years this property was zoned commercial
and now that it is being considered for rezoning, the property owner would need it
rezoned to R-1-6500 for practical reasons.
Carol Andor, 5970 Hansen Drive spoke and stated she would like to see a stop sign put at
Hansen and Valley as there are young children in the vicinity and one auto has been
wrecked already.
The public hearing was closed.
Chairman Doherty suggested Mrs. Andor contact the staff concerning the intersection
mentioned.
Commissioner Wilson made a motion that the rezoning for this application be recommended
for approval as submitted. Commissioner Jamieson seconded this motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioner Geppert, Getty, Jamieson, Wilson and Chairman Doherty
Noes: None
Resolution No. 1753 was then entered and adopted recommending approval of RZ-79-10.
GP-79-8, Harris Realty
Application of Harris Realty Co. to change the land use designation of the General Plan
for the properties located at 444, 471, 486, 496 and 459 St. Mary St, from "High Density
Residential" to "Commercial and Offices". A negative declaration of environmental impacts
will also be considered.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report and the recommendation that this application be held
to a later date and incorporated as part of the CBD study which will be furnished in
July.
The Commissioners then discussed a time limit for this application and the upcoming CBD
report and RAP session to be heard sometime in July. Commissioner Geppert then inquired
how much of the property on this street was residential compared to commercial or offices.
Mr. Harris explained.
The public hearing was opened.
Mike Harris, the applicant spoke. He stated there were only about 10-12 structures
involved and five have signed the application. He stated there are apartment houses on
St. Marys .Street and it is a mixed-zoned neighborhood. He stated he had no objections to
this matter being continued to July 11, 1979. A vote was taken of the Commission and all
voted to have this heard at July 11, 1979, the next regular Planning Commission meeting.
