Patricia Day, the applicant spoke stating that the Fire Department had
inspected and approved her premises on November 2, 1979 and she pre-
sented copies of the inspection to the Commission. Mrs. Day explained
her hours of operation and number of children she would have. She
further stated she would not have more than five drop-ins at any one
time.
Commissioner Jamieson then asked what an Assistant Care Giver was?
Mrs. Day explained.
Commissioner Geppert asked the applicant if she was required to know
first aid. Mrs. Day said no she wasn't but that she has taken a class
for it.
Commissioner Geppert then asked what criteria was used for her appli-
cation and approval by the State. Mrs. Day stated she was required
to have a Police check, including finger prints and a background
check.
Commissioner Wilson stated it appears Mrs. Day is qualified for
child care.
Kathy Alameda, Valley Child Care, 6281 Hansen Drive stated she would
encourage the approval of this application as the community is in
dire need of quality child care and Mrs. Day is a qualified and
responsible individual.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Geppert stated in the past he wasn't supportive of this
type of use, however, it is apparent with 40% of the mothers being
employed in the Valley, there is a need for child care services.
This would also eliminate fuel costs with people driving their
children to other towns and cities.
Commissioner Wilson made a motion that UP-79-26 be approved and that
all of the required findings could be made for granting this approval.
He then read the findings. This motion was seconded by Commissioner
Geppert.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Geppert, Getty, Jamieson, Wilson and
Chairperson Doherty
Noes: None
Resolution No. 1832 was then entered and adopted approving case UP-79-26.
PUD-79-13, John Caroline
Application to rezone the 69 acre site located on the south side of
Valley Avenue immediately easterly of the residences along Kolln
Street from the I-P (Industrial Park) District to the PUD-Industrial
(Planned Unit Development-Industrial) District.
-5-
. __ . _. . _..._.T._ ... _ .. _~.._. _.__.......__. _ __ _ ... _. _ . .. __ _ __ ~._.
