Commissioner Geppert ask if a traffic engineer wa: >resent. The applicant
stated no traffic engineer was present.
Mr. O'Hearn addressed the proposed height of the structures. He stated he
would like to see at least 32 feet allowed.
Commissioner Geppert asked if the developer would be willing to share in the
cost of signalization if deemed necessary. Mr. Van De Roovaart stated they
had no problems with this but didn't feel it would be needed.
Mr. Schaumburg stated this matter could be considered at the tentative map
level.
Mr. Van De Roovaart confirmed that hours of operations for manufacturers have
not been set on this project.
Commissioner Geppert then asked Lars Jotten what he had in mind concerning
the restriction of hours in this park. Mr. Jotten stated he just wanted to
avoid a three shift-type operation.
Kevin Best, 3484 Alvarado-Niles, Union City spoke representing Ken Best a
neighboring business of the proposed business park. He stated his company
supports the Caroline application stating it is an energy conscious well
thought out development which would be an asset to the community.
Larry Osborne, Kottinger Drive, spoke in support of this application stating
that if you limit the hours of operation in this park you are limiting the
number of people who desire to come to Pleasanton.
Commissioner Getty stated that perhaps it could be handled by placement of a
particular type of business.
Larry Osborne reiterated that by limiting hours it discourages development
and purchase of land.
Bill Lenson, 3767 Brockton Court spoke stating that he would like to see noise-
making industries considered but did not want limitation of hours considered.
Bob Graham, 503 San Gabriel Court, (owner of Jewelers Gallery) spoke in
support of this application.
Bill Bench, Utility Vault, spoke for this application requesting light in-
dustrial next to his business. He stated he does not want a Doctor's office
next to his noisy business and would like a sound barrier along the fence line
because when they are in full operation, his workers have to wear ear plugs
and he has no wish to be offensive to his neighbors, nor to move his location
of business.
Chairperson Doherty stated some of the new buildings will actually act as a
buffer and that the Commission does appreciate the concerns of Utility Vault
Company.
Robert Pearson, 3590 Churchill spoke in opposition to this proposal. He
stated that Jim Walker, Assistant City Manager put out a report stating there
are 178,000 gallons of sewage left. Mr. Pearson stated that Caroline's
project would use a substantial amount of this, leaving very little for
-9-
