Commissioner Jamieson asked if Mr. Holmes lives at the Mohr Avenue
address and he stated he did not. He stated an employee lived there
up to a week ago and now, he, Mr. Holmes, has made application to the
apartment complex to get an empty unit.
Commissioner Jamieson stated that according to the staff report a
supervisor lived in the apartments. Mr. Holmes stated this was true
and will be true in the future.
Larry McKague, 1831 Halcycon Court spoke to this business. He stated
he doesn't want any business in a residential neighborhood.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Jamieson referred to the staff report concerning visibility
beyond the site.
Commissioner Getty spoke to concerns with the intersection and safety.
She stated in the future this service could change to answering emergency
calls. She stated she is further surprised that no surrounding property
owners are in the audience to speak either for or against this use.
Commissioner Lindsey then reiterated he had concerns with the inter-
section of Santa Rita/Mohr Avenue and is surprised the Police Department
had no comments on it.
Commissioner Jamieson stated there is nothing from keeping Mr. Holmes
from bidding on the County contract once the contract with Tri-Cities and
the County is up, and if contracted with the County, Holmes Ambulance
would be responding to 911 calls.
Chairperson Doherty stated he is not totally happy with that inter-
section because of parking. He stated it is conceivable that from time
to time they would get a little more action than just moving people from
the Veterans hospital. He also stated he was surprised that there were
no surrounding property owners in the audience.
A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner Jamieson
that case Z-80-57 be denied.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Getty,
Noes: None
Absent: Commissioner Wilson
Jamieson, Lindsey and Chairperson Doherty
Resolution No. 1873 was then entered and adopted denying the application
of Dan Holmes for an ambulance service as filed under case Z-80-57.
Chairperson Doherty advised Mr. Holmes he has 15 days in which to
appeal this decision.
-4-
.. _-_-.,_..T..__ .. _ _ .. _._ .., _.. ~ , . .. . _ _._.. __ ..._ _ _..__T.. _ _ .
