Mr. Harris explained Tri-Cities operation and how it is evidently up
to the attendants as to where they want to live and that if they change
personnel they change locations for their ambulance.
Commissioner Jamieson asked if there were any complaints against Tri-
Cities on Francisco. Mr. Harris stated a couple of calls were received
but it mostly involved tenants parking their personal autos on the
street. He stated the staff notified the ambulance service concerning
this matter. He stated some mention has been made concerning the
upkeep of the yard, but the fact is the ambulance service maintains the
yard better than it had previously been maintained.
Commissioner Getty addressed the intersection of Mohr Avenue/Santa Rita
Road. She stated she was surprised the Police Department had no comments
concerning this.
Mr. Harris stated the Police Department did not comment on this regarding
the intersection.
Chairperson Doherty stated there is still a problem at Mohr Avenue/Santa
Rita Road even with the recent markings because of parking on Santa
Rita Road. He stated it could be that an ambulance would have better
visibility but emergency vehicles may be a problem.
The public hearing was opened.
Dan Holmes, 2570 First Street, Livermore, the applicant, spoke. He
concurred with all of the conditions of the staff report.
Mr. Holmes stated that most of his business relates to moving people
to and from convalescent homes, taking them to doctors, etc. He stated
they feel it would be better to have one car in Livermore and the other
in Pleasanton as opposed to two cars in Livermore. He stated most of
his calls are non-emergency type calls.
In response to a question of Commissioner Jamieson, Mr. Holmes stated
there would be no radios inside of the apartment, but that they would
have a telephone. He further stated that their radio is in no way
connected to a police radio but is merely used from the ambulance
dispatcher to the ambulance itself.
Commissioner Lindsey addressed Mohr Avenue and parking and asked for
assurance that the drivers of the ambulance would drive with caution
as they go onto Santa Rita Road. Mr. Holmes responded that it is
their policy to drive safely.
Commissioner Lindsey asked the percentage of emergency calls to total
calls.
Mr. Holmes stated it is about 5~, if that.
-3-
