Special Meeting
Planning Commission
July 16, 1980
the C-T1 District. Commissioner Jamieson stated he would support hardware
stores in the C-N District on a conditional basis.
A motion was made by Commissioner Jamieson, seconded by Commissioner
Lindsey to initiate a change in the Ordinance Code of the City of
Pleasanton to conditionally allow hardware stores in the C-N District.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes Commissioners Doherty, Jamieson and Lindsey
Noes Commission Getty and Chairperson Wilson
Absent None
Abstain None
Resolution No. 1890 was then entered and adopted initiating a change
in the Ordinance Code to conditionally allow hardware stores in the
C-N (Neighborhhod Commercial) District.
GP-80-l,-City of Pleasanton
Review of Draft Revised Housing Element of the General Plan of the City
of Pleasanton formulated pursuant to State Government Code Section 65302
and State Housing Element Guidelines. The purpose of the proposed
Housing Element is to evaluate existing and projected community housing
need and to offer a workable housing program to meet said need. A
negative declaration of environmental impacts needs also to be considered.
Chairperson DeWitt Wilson stated this matter was continued from the
July 9, 1980 regular meeting at which time the public hearing was closed.
He said, however, he would be more than willing to consider reopening
the public hearing if there was anyone in the audience who wish to speak.
No one addressed the Commission, the Planning Commissioners continued
discussion from July 9, 1980.
Chairperson Wilson stated that at the last meeting the definition of
multiples was discussed as 8 units/acre equaling multiples and that it
was agreed mobile homes are multiples depending upon the density.
As the Commission concluded the review of Pages 1 through 6 on July 9,
they started with Page 7 and made the following comments with regard to
the report:
Policy 2, Page 7
Chairperson Wilson stated he would like to see wording added "but to
recognize lower costs units might not be as pleasing as higher cost
units." He stated if this isn't changed, there won't be any affordable
units. Commissioner Getty stated this was discussed at length at the
Human Services Commission and that she assumes the intent is to build
the best housing for the money and that they will have to meet certain
building codes. Councilmember Karin Mohr addressed a law which she
believes to become effective January 1, 1981 intended to encourage lower
income and subsidized housing. Mr. Harris stated the City can impose
any design standards it wants as long as they are reasonable. Commissioner
Getty stated it doesn't mean that the design or materials have to be poor
and she is sure a developer would want to build housing that would last.
-3-
_..__. _. .... .~... _. ~ _.. .. .. .... ._ ...
