William Gale, Attorney representing Mrs. Perry spoke. He stated <br />there is no agreement at this time. He stated the lease has problems <br />with possible condemnation of the property at a future time. He stated <br />Mrs. Perry is interested in selling the property and Mr. Caroline is <br />interested in buying it but that he should probably buy the whole parcel. <br />Chairperson Wilson took a show of hands as to how many people were in <br />the audience to speak for or against any of the cases proposed. After <br />consideration of his audience, Chairperson Wilson rearranged the agenda <br />to accommodate the concerned citizens. <br />AP-80-11, Valley Empire Roofing <br />Appeal of Valley Empire Roofing, Inc. of a decision of the Zoning Admini- <br />startor of the City of Pleasanton denying a home occupation permit for <br />their roofing business at their residence which is located at 5504 Corte <br />Sierra. The property is zoned R-1-6500 (Single-Family Residential) <br />District. <br />Mr. Harris presented the staff report and recommendation for denial. <br />He stated the applicant had indicated that he would not attend the <br />meeting but that he had talked to Mr. Torres two days before and he <br />had indicated to Mr. Harris that the business would be removed from <br />his home by the end of the month. Mr. Harris stated that complaints <br />have been received by many neighbors concerning parking, blocking the <br />streets, meeting after work, drinking beverages, littering and the <br />location of roofing trucks. He said Torres says that only a bookkeeper <br />is on the premises and that Torres contends friends visit but not his <br />employees. Mr. Harris stated he has noticed a couple of vehicles and <br />that most of the time there are two pick-up trucks and one auto <br />on the site and never saw a large congregation of people on the <br />property. He further stated there is no material being stored in the <br />side yard or garage at this time. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Speaking in opposition to the appeal were: <br />Betty Quinnberg, 5523 Corte Sierra <br />Mr. Thau, 5536 Corte Sierra <br />Emily Deutch, 5520 Corte Sierra <br />Larry Garsky, 5539 Corte Sierra <br />Judy Garsky, 5539 Corte Sierra <br />Richard Pesavento, 5555 Corte Sierra <br />Gene Helbrook, 5511 Paseo Navarro <br />Tom Mori, 5508 Paseo Navarro <br />These people stated that have no problems with the Torres' themselves <br />but with the business and listed the following problems and concerns: <br />-3- <br />
