parking standards for residential in the downtown area to what
they were two years ago. He said an assessment district takes a
lot of time to form as well as a lot of work.
Commissioner Getty said that with regard to parking two blocks
from where you work, there is no reason why the businesses could't
be charged for parking. She said as far as the Mavridis building
is concerned it could be contributing to the parking problem on
that street.
A motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey, seconded by Commissioner
Jamieson, that this matter be continued for a study session with
the traffic committee, Downtown Association and Planning Commission
and that this should be put forward in an expeditious manner.
This was approved 4-0 (Chairperson Wilson absent).
Process for renewing conditional use permits, variances and
design review approvals.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report.
Commissioner Getty asked if the Planning Commission would be
commenting on extensions. Mr. Harris stated that if input from
the Commission was desired, there would be no point in the staff
administratively extending proposals. Mr. Harris stated that
the Commission could be notified in the same manner as they are
notified with regard to the minor modifications on Planned Unit
Developments. He said the Commission would be notified in
writing of all extensions granted and have a time limit to appeal
the administrative decision.
Commissioner Doherty said he agrees with the process and that
they could be notified of the extension in writing. He said this
would cut down volumes of paperwork handled as well as cut down
the time of some of the late night meetings.
A motion was made by Commissioner Doherty that staff draw up a
proposed amendment to the ordinance code which will be considered
at a future Planning Commission meeting as recommended in the
staff report. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Lindsey.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Doherty, Jamieson, Lindsey and
Acting Chairperson Getty
Noes: None
Absent: Chairperson Wilson
Abstain: None
Resolution No. 1974 was then entered and adopted initiating an
application for an ordinance code change.
-6-
_.,T.., _____. _.. _... .. ~....... _._. .. _. _ ._... .__ ..
