Railroad tracks on the east and Sunol Boulevard on the west from
"Open Space" to "Office" or to any other land use designation found
appropriate by the City. A negative declaration of environmental
impacts was also considered.
Mr. Harris reviewed the staff report.
The public hearing was opened.
J. Jack Bras, 90 Mission Drive, represented Mr. Vandenberghe and
urged approval of this general plan change.
Dennis Glafkides, 737 Happy Valley Road, spoke representing the
Alisal Improvement Club. He stated the homeowners of the area are
opposed to the General Plan change and annexation of the property.
Further he stated the land is not appropriate for office development
and that there are two offices across the street which are long in
length, near the road and aesthetically not attractive. He stated
the homeowners have concerns with traffic.
Commissioner Lindsey asked what Mr. Glafkides would like to see on
the property. Mr. Glafkides responded that he would like to see it
remain open space.
The public hearing was closed.
The Commission then discussed the size of the parcel and storm
drain on the property which is not a recorded easement. Mr. Bras
said the site is buildable with about a 2500 sq. ft. building and
urged approval of the general plan amendment. He said they are
running sewers to the new buildings and are stubbing utilities for
this particular site.
Commissioner Jamieson stated it is a question as to "where do we
stop?" He said he never supported these developments, i.e. Caroline.
He said their project was approved a couple of years ago and they
have never done anything and their property is now eroding.
A motion was made by Commissioner Doherty, seconded by Chairperson
Getty that the negative declaration for GP-81-5 be recommended for
approval because changing the general plan land use designation would
not have a significant adverse negative effect on the environment.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioner Doherty and Chairperson Getty
Noes: Commissioners Jamieson, Lindsey and Wilson
Absent: None
Abstain: None
Resolution No. 2087 was then entered and adopted recommending denial
of the negative declaration prepared for case GP-81-5.
-11-
