with the ratio proposed and feel it is not sufficient and that it
may create some problems for the shopping center if the Drachman
method is used and that they do not support the Drachman system and
that the parking ratio is a definite concern. Mr. Cox stated that
they have reached agreement that if it is ever concluded there is a
parking problem from their development that they would remedy the
situation. Commissioner Lindsey asked ho~v this would be done.
Commissioner Wilson asked if there are any tenants proposed for
one of the Daon buildings yet. Mr. Cox said no. Commissioner
Doherty spoke to the parking ratio and that allowed for other
developments. He said he would not want to grant more parking
for this development than for others in the north Pleasanton area
and would not like to grant a special privilege not enjoyed by others
in similar and like situations.
Mr. Cox rebutted the parking concerns referring to the fact that
this is a regional development. Commissioner Doherty argued that
San Francisco, Palo Alto and San Ramon and many other areas are
not Pleasanton and that the Commission wants everyone to be suc-
cessful and has an obligation to encourage success. He said he
supports the concerns of Mr. Harris regarding parking. Commissioner
Wilson asked if there is any place the Planning Commissioners could
go and see a group of brick buildings. Mr. McVicar spoke to the
Levi Strauss Plaza in San Francisco at Battery and Sansome Streets.
Commissioner Lindsey indicated he is not comfortable with the ultimate
impact on traffic and circulation if the entire project is completed
as planned.
Mr. Harris stated he needs to know the impact of the latest proposal
along with other peripheral and future development of the shopping
center will not be greater than the original figures show. He said in
1988 there will be intersections with from 'A' - 'E±' traffic levels
and that if these figures are off slightly we may be in trouble.
He said there hasn't been time to carefully analyze this and there
are concerns with the square footage being proposed. He said
Stoneridge Mall Road appears to work but what about the freeway
interchange pertaining to I-580/I-680 and the North Pleasanton
Traffic Study.
Chairperson Getty asked if time is of the essence. Mr. Cox stated
they would like to move as expeditiously as possible but would address
the City's concerns.
Commissioner Doherty said he would think the developer would like the
matter to be continued from tYie 16th and held over until January so
that data could be updated. Mr. Cox stated he has noted the
concerns with traffic. Chairperson Getty said she would prefer not
to hear the matter until a complete and accurate traffic study has
been prepared.
-7-
