page 10
Minutes
Planning Commission
GP-81-9, City of Pleasanton
Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the General Plan
land use designation of several properties on the west side of
Martin Avenue between Mohr Avenue and the Arroyo Mocho and an
approximately 45 acre site east of Martin Avenue immediately south
of the Arroyo Mocho from "Medium Density Residential" and "Sand
and Gravel Harvesting" to "Low Density Residential" or to any other
land use designation deemed appropriate by the City, A negative
declaration of environmental impacts will also be considered.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report. He stated that the Thorpe
property to the east should have been changed to Medium Density
Residential and that Kaiser Sand and Gravel has no intention of
harvesting the property and it's residential land use should have
been shown as Medium Density on the Plan. He recommended that the
Planning Commission consider the Thorpe property. He said the staff
also looked at the property south of Mohr Avenue as well (the
DeVor Nursery and the Busch 107 acre parcel). He stated Kaiser
is attempting to purchase the eastern portion of the Busch property.
Commissioner Wilson indicated he would like to continue this matter
to January and consider all of the property in the area including
Thorpe's and Kaiser's land use designation. He says he goes back
to Commissioner Doherty's previous recommendations in that he would
like to see some 22-5 acre sites in the area and he thinks we should
take a hard look at the matter as this will probably be the last
time the City will have a chance to have this type of land use.
Commissioner Doherty said there is no problem in looking at the
DeVor and Busch property as well as others.
Commissioner Wilson referred to a letter from Kaiser Sand and
Gravel regarding the preserving of the mining property on the
east side of Martin Avenue. Mr. Harris indicated that south of the
Thorpe property there will be sand and gravel harvesting.
Commissioner Wilson said he would like to see ~ map of the entire
area showing the properties owners and acreages in a large scale,
perhaps 3'x4'.
Commissioner Doherty asked if there were any other sites out there
which should be considered. Mr. Harris responded that the Molinaro's
property as well as the Kamp property are the only properties for
which no plans have been indicated, but that south of the Thorpe
property there will be harvesting.
Karin Mohr said the .annexations are not yet back £rom LAFGO and
that Dick Karn did talk to her about some of these properties as
being included in reclamation and that the entire chunk will be
one of a chain of lakes. Commissioner Wilson said this is all
the more reason to continue this matter.
