Commissioner Jamieson indicated he would like to support a state <br />lottery for California and that it would be a good way for the state <br />to gain much needed revenue, He recommended that City Council support <br />this thought. Commissioner Doherty said he would support such an <br />action and is familiar with other states where a lottery is present. <br />He said one of the legislators intends to bring up such a request <br />in the next few weeks and that it would be a painless way to get <br />money back into the state coffers. Commissioner Jamieson indicated <br />that the state already has gambling, i,e,, horse racing, etc. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jamieson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Doherty, that the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council <br />support a state lottery. This motion was carried, <br />OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearin s <br />T ere was no old business, <br />NEW BUSINESS - Public Hearings <br />GP-82-10, City of Pleasanton <br />Application of the City of Pleasanton to change the General Plan <br />designation of the approximately 200 foot wide strip located on the <br />west side of Vineyard/Pico/Tawny intersection and the Arroyo del <br />Valle from "Open Space - Parks and Recreation" to "Medium Density <br />Residential" and to change the designation of the approximately 3/4 <br />acre parcel located immediately west of the Vineyard Villa Mobile <br />Home Park from "Open Space - Parks and Recreation" to "High Density <br />Residential." The Planning Commission may recommend any action on <br />this matter deemed in the public interest. A Negative Declaration <br />of environmental impacts will also be considered, <br />Mr. Harris presented the staff report stating this application came <br />about as a result of a recent request for annexation for the subject <br />property, <br />The public hearing was opened, <br />Frank Allen, 3421 Vineyard Avenue, the property owner stated he <br />supports the recommendations made by staff, <br />No one else addressed the Commission on this matter, <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />Mr, Harris indicated this matter would be referred to the Park and <br />Recreation Commission and then go to City Council in April 1983 <br />when they consider all general plan amendments, <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner <br />Jamieson, that the negative declaration prepared for case GP-82-10 <br />be recommended for approval as suggested in the staff report of <br />1/12/83 inasmuch as adoption of the general plan amendment proposed <br />would have no significant adverse effect on the environment. <br />-2- <br />
