MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
10/12/83
Page 3
GP-83-8, Cit of Pleasanton
Application of the City o Pleasanton to amend the general plan
land use designation from High density Residential to Medium
Density Residential, or any other designation deemed in the
public interest for a 6.6 acre site located at the southwest
corner of Stoneridge Drive and I-680. Zoning for the property
is PUD (Planned Unit Development)-High Density Residential District.
A negative declaration of environmental impacts will also be
considered.
This item was continued to 10/26/83.
NEW BUSINESS - Public Hearings
RZ-83-7, Prudential Insurance Com an of America
Application o the Pru ential Insurance Company of America to
rezone approximately twenty-one acres located north and south
of West Las Positas Boulevard west of its intersection with
Stoneridge Drive from L-I (Light Industrial to I-P (Industrial
Park) District. The Planning Commission may recommend any zoning
for the property consistent with the General Plan. A negative
declaration of environmental impacts will also be considered.
Mr. Harris presented the staff report recommending approval
of the rezoning request.
The public hearing was opened.
Curt Altschul, 6324 Calle Altamira, Citizens for Balanced Growth,
addressed the Commission. They are opposed to the rezoning
as described. He stated that the first three buildings approved
after the PUD are also in his opposition. The reasons for opposition
relate to too much density.
Commissioner Lindsey asked Mr. Altschul that if the City left
the zoning as it is if he would prefer truck terminals, tire
sales, etc. vs what is proposed. Mr. Altschul stated he would
not if he could have a guarantee but is not sure that it could
be given and that this would be the decision of the City.
Joe Callahan, CPS, stated the zoning request would increase
the controls and the controls are utilized. He stated that
density is not germane because they have CC&R's to control density
throughout the park. He reiterated that this is strictly enforced.
Mike Kringle, 5307 Sonoma Drive, said he would like to have
this site approved. It would provide funds to the City through
sales taxes and property taxes. He felt the industrial park
on the whole is very well designed, the buildings are aesthetically
pleasing, the landscaping is being done very well; and the City
cannot go forward with now growth. He felt perhaps some of
the revenue could be used for school buses.
-3-
