MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
12/14/83
Page 8
Commissioner Lindsey asked Ms. Stein if she was opposed to all five lots next to
the 6500 sq. ft. lot existing development. She said they are. Commissioner Lindsey
stated that in his opinion the traffic problem doesn't have any particular effect
on the development. Ms. Stein stated that the problems do exist and would be
exacerbated by the development of this project. She felt that the haul route, traffic
problems are directly related to this project.
Susan Dye, 6244 Hansen, was concerned about the model homes being adjacent
to her property. She had concerns with traffic and stated Ponderosa hasn't acted
very concerned with the problems they have already created in the areas. She
said the environmental document addresses the future but doesn't reference the
current adverse activity which is taking place. She felt the zoning should remain
R-1-6500.
Harold Hughes, 6694 Hansen Drive, said they suffer inconvenience because of the
current construction. He said their street is sinking because of the traffic. He
felt the City image should be maintained.
Mr. Medeiros rebutted stating they are concerned with recent developments in
the neighborhood and they have been making efforts to mitigate the problems.
Chairman Jamieson asked if he was responsible for other parts of the development
and asked whether or not Mr. Medeiros has been involved with the problems in
the area.. He was very concerned that people in the area are not supporting this
application because of problems.
Mr. Medeiros stated they have been using Hansen as a construction access and
are making an effort to keep the street clean. He has met with the City staff
and he will keep on top of the situation. He said construction trucks for the models
will not use this haul route. Commissioner Jamieson asked the location of the
proposed haul route. Mr. Medeiros said they will have to go through open property
remaining.
The public h Baring was closed.
Commissioner Doherty asked for clarification on the surrounding zoning. The staff
complied.
Mr. Swift suggested that if an action is to be taken denying the application, the
Planning Commission act on the negative declaration in the event the matter is
appealed. The Commission did not elect to do this.
A motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey, seconded by Commissioner Getty
that PUD-83-24 be denied.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:
Commissioners Doherty, Getty, Lindsey, Wilson
and Chairman Jamieson
None
None
None
Resolution No. 2409 was entered and adopted denying case PUD-83-24 as motinoed.
-8-
