Roger Reidy, 3636 Weymouth Court, agreed with the development
overall. He agreed that the arroyo would be a good place for the
loading dock.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Innes had concerns with a refrigerated truck running
before 6:OOam and stated that the trucks should be requested to
stay on the west side of the market until 6:OOam.
Commissioner Getty said that Safeway shopping center doesn't
seem to have a problem with their entrances and exits.
Commissioner Wilson stated that Safeway has 10 acres and this
area is about three. Commissioner Lindsey stated that Alpha Beta
has only two major exits. He asked Mr. Ferreri to address this
matter.
John Ferreri indicated that they are constrained because the two
properties are under separate ownership. Mr. Goodell has revised
the project to take into consideration the concerns of the
neighbors keeping in mind the ownership situation. Commissioner
Lindsey asked if there would be addition landscaping with the
eight ft. high wall. Mr. Ferreri said there would be. He
further indicated that Nob Hill Markets does not have a problem
having the trucks park in front of the store until 6:OOam.
Dr. Aguirre, had no problems putting in the access from the gas
station to their property. They would dedicate two parking
spaces.
Commissioner Lindsey had concerns with traffic while believing
the project was a good one.
Chairman Doherty shared this concern and said it might be better
to have an island solid without a break in the median. There
will be three lanes on this road in each direction. Commissioner
Innes felt that by closing it off would penalize the people on
Navajo Court making a left turn going north onto Santa Rita Road.
Dan Torres, Vice President, Nob Hill Markets, Gilroy, stated that
one of their concerns was ingress onto the site. He felt if
Santa Rita Road was closed off people would have a difficult time
coming into the shopping center. He reviewed their store in
Capitola.
Mr.Warnick stated that TJKM has helped the City design the road
to handle the traffic and it is expected now that the streets
will function adequately.
Commissioner Innes would like the two medical buildings to come
back before the Design Review Board.
The public hearing was closed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner
Wilson that the negative declaration prepared for case PUD-84-4
- 18 -
