Planning Commissioners would meet at the City hall to tour the site. All interested persons are invited to attend. This modification request will be continued to 10/10/84, 8:OOpm for decision. RZ-83-8, City of Pleasanton Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the provisions of the zoning ordinance with respect to he parking requirements in the Central Business District. Mr. Harris presented the staff report. The public hearing was opened. Judy Mayhew,610 Main Street, Chairman Downtown Association, urged approval of the ordinance but asked that Section 2-9-15, sub paragraph d be modified to eliminate 'zoning map'. She stated that restaurants need parking spaces but at noon time traffic is not 100% because much of it is walk-in. She indicated that it is the intent to save the old buildings and businesses in the core area. New businesses can't move in because there is no parking spaces provided. Gay 90s wanted to put in an outdoor patio eating area but couldn't because no parking. Hacienda Del Sol would like to enclose their patio area for seating and can't do it at the present time. Commissioner Wilson asked Mrs. Mayhew if she has spoken to the property owners of vacant land. Mrs. Mayhew stated that they have not spoken to property owners of unimproved land as this is really not the issue. They are concerned with saving businesses and putting businesses into existing buildings. This was their number one priority. Presently there is no parking problem. She stated her customers never have a parking problem. Robert Ernest, 125-C West Neal Street, moved to Pleasanton three years ago from Burlingame. They came to open a business. They wanted to open a restaurant and found it was impossible to do in downtown Pleasanton. He presented a petition which he solicited from business owners in the down town area. He attached his petition o the staff report and draft parking ordinance and everyone he talked to signed it. He said he had a short time and there are only about 30 signatures but he is sure he can get more. The public hearing was closed. Mr. Harris stated that concerning Mrs. Mayhew's comments about Hacienda Del Sol expanding into the screen room, he is not sure this cannot be done under the conditions of the LID for that block. Commissioners Lindsey and Getty then discussed other businesses which could not be converted to a restaurant such as the building occupied by Gene's flooring or the old police building.
