MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISISON
April 11, 1984
Page 5
Mrs. Ostle said that the home is temporarily occupied by people who are
purchasing another home.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Lindsey asked if truly this property is the only residence
fronting on Santa Rita Road. Mr. Harris said it is but is no closer to
the street than other houses to the south. Chairman Jamieson asked if
people on the street were notified of the soundwall on the south side
of Valley Avenue. Mr. Harris said they were and that permission was sought
to remove fences. Mr. Warnick wasn't sure whether or not this particular
property owner was notified. The contractor was required to make the
arrangements, he is therefore unfamiliar with the particular circumstanc ~.
Chairman Jamieson asked if the normal notice would be all persons within
300'. Mr. Harris stated residents came to the hearings on this subject
and discussed a 7 ft. vs. 9 ft. soundwall. Valley Business Associates
met with them as well as public hearings held. Chairman Jamieson asked
about the removal of the Oleander bush. Mr. Warnick indicated this would
have to be checked. Mrs. Ostle said it was planted on the fence line
for privacy.
Commissioner Lindsey felt it is interesting that with the housing shortage
in Pleasanton, the home can't be rented. The Commissioners then discussed
rental charges of neighboring units vs. single-family homes in the area.
A motion was made by Commissioner Wilson that case GP-84-3 be recommended
for denial. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Getty.
Commissioner Lindsey felt that to change the land use designation of this
property would create spot zoning and he could not support this. Chairman
Jamieson agreed with this statement.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Doherty, Getty, Wilson and Chairman
Jamieson
NOES: Commissioner Lindsey
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. 2451 was entered and adopted recommending denial of case
GP-84-3 as motioned.
Mr. Harris advised that the City Council would automatically consider
this matter at their June meeting for general plan amendments.
-5-
____ ..~.. .. ___,._.. -,--.-..__ _ ___~ __ _ . _ . .. _ _ _ _T_
