Minutes
Planning Commissio
November 13, 1985
Santa Rita Roads. He asked staff to check into this matter and
advise the Commission. Commissioner Hoyt indicated that it is
not there now and was used just as a one time event.
Commissioner Hoyt asked the staff to check into the landscaping
that was approved when Gay 90's got approval to have outdoor
seating. He recalls that it was required that the planter area
be 6'-8' and it is obviously not like that.
Commissioner Innes asked for a copy of the State of the City
report which was released to City Council. Mr. Swift indicated
the reports were furnished for the second joint meeting and that
staff would see that Commissioner Innes received another copy.
Commissioner Innes then asked about the progress of Foothill Road
at Foothill Knolls as four-five months have gone by. Mr. Okamura
indicated that the County has not yet responded. Commissioner
Innes suggested that Mr. Okamura check with the County to speed
things along.
Chairman Wilson indicated that there was a recent newspaper
article written by Alan Hirsh which stated "...that the people of
Livermore personally built Valley Memorial Hospital with their
own hands and money." Chairman Wilson took issue with this
statement and stated that the Orloffs, Gales, Edmands, Fultons,
Abbrotts and others made very large donations to this hospital.
Chairman Wilson suggested that the Planning Commission recommend
to the City Council that they withdraw their waiver of assessment
district ($1,700,000) - this is a pretty good gift. Sewer
capacity has been set aside for Valley Memorial Hospital and they
still don't acknowledge Pleasanton.
Commissioner Lindsey asked if the Chairman would support another
hospital group coming in in place of Valley Memorial. Chairman
Wilson said he would and the Mayor has indicted there are three
other groups who would like to come to the area. Commissioner
Lindsey indicated he could support Chairman Wilson. Commissioner
Innes felt Pleasanton has been more than lenient with Valley
Memorial Hospital and also supported Chairman Wilson.
A motion was made by Chairman Wilson, seconded by Commissioner
Innes to recommend to the City Council that they rescind the
waiver of assessment district fees and sewer capacity for the
development of Valley Memorial Hospital on the northwest corner
of West Las Positas Boulevard and Santa Rita Road.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Hoyt, Innes, Lindsey,
Wellman and Chairman Wilson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. 2723 was entered and adopted regarding Valley
Memorial Hospital as motioned.
- 2 -
_ - T
