Minutes
Planning Commissic
10/23/85
Commissioner Michelotti asked staff to react to allowing 50
persons in the building vs 30 persons. Mr. Gee didn't feel the
use would be expanding very quickly and did not express any
concern with 50 vs 30 people using the building at one time.
Commissioner Wellman addressed condition No. 4 of the staff
report regarding the landscaping and the renovation of the front
of the building. Mr. Corley stated he had talked to Mr. Gee
about this and the one problem they about this is they do not
know when Cellar Liquors will be leaving for sure. Commissioner
Wellman then asked Mr. Corley if he would be comfortable with a
time limit stipulating "after Cellar vacates." Mr. Corley
indicated they are willing to cooperate but they do not have the
financial ability to just call someone up and start to work.
Commissioner Lindsey stated he did not feel a religious
institution is proper in Downtown Pleasanton and indicted he
would not support the application for this reason.
A motion was made by Commissioner Wellman, seconded by
Commissioner Michelotti that the findings shown in the staff
report are made and that Case UP-85-29 be approved subject to the
conditions of the staff report amending condition 5, 6 and 7 as
follows:
5. That if the parish population or activities increase to
beyond the fifty people maximum listed in the "Use of
Facility" chart (except for Valentine's Day, Halloween, and
annual church-wide meetings) a review of this permit shall be
required.
6. That the Cellar Liquors sign and lamps be removed from St.
Mary's Street frontage upon vacation of premises by the
tenant. Appropriate repairs shall be made to the building as
a result of sign and fixture removal. Repair plans, building
treatment, materials, paint schedules and colors shall be
submitted within 6 months of the vacation of the liquor store
tenant and shall be subject to Design Review Board's review
and approval prior to start of repair work. All plans shall
conform to Downtown Design Guidelines.
7. That a landscape improvement plan be submitted for planning
staff review within 3 months time and approval to install
planting along the west side yard, adjacent to the St. Mary's
Street driveway access and along the south property line to
the rear of the property between the building and parking lot
and the improvements shall be installed within 6 months.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Hoyt, Michelotti, and Wellman
NOES: Commissioner Lindsey and Chairman Wilson
ABSENT: Commissioner Innes
ABSTAIN: None
