Minutes
Plann;.ng Commissio;
4/24/85
Trish Watts, 411 Main Street, representing the Downtown
Associ;xtion, urged support of the requested modification. Their
association endorses more retail business in the downtown area
and less real estate offices. Real estate offices currently
occupy- prime real estate space in the downtown area.
Commissioner Wilson asked Ms. Watts if they feel the same way
about financial institutions. Ms. Watts indicated that financial
institutions should stay in down town. She said a little bit of
all kinds of businesses in the downtown area make downtowns more
special.
The pualic hearing was closed.
Commissioner Lindsey discussed eliminating this restriction from
the rest of the business parks. Commissioner Innes could go
along with one commercial center in the parks having real estate
offices, and financial institutions.
Mr. Swift indicated that Hacienda Business Park's zoning is
unique to the CIty. They have different zones for various sites
and buildings. He reviewed the uses allowed in various zoning
distr~_cts .
A motion was made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by
Commi-~sioner Getty that Case PUD-81-30-7M be recommended for
approval.
ROLL ::ALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Getty, Innes, Lindsey, Wilson and Chairman
Doherty
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAI?'3 : None
Resolution No. 2652 was entered and adopted recommending approval
of Case PUD-81-30-7M as motioned.
There was then considerable discussion about removing this same
condition from the other business parks in town. Commissioner
Wilso:i made a motion, seconded by Chairman Doherty that this same
condition be removed from the other business parks. After
further discussion the motion and second were withdrawn and it
was decided to look at this matter on a case-by-case basis
inasmuch as the technicalities of the zoning and uses vary in the
different business parks.
Request to initiate an amendment to the Zoning Code to
conditionally allow service stations/convenience stores in the CN
Neig'Yborhood Commercial) District
Mr. Harris presented the request.
Commi~;sioner Wilson didn't feel that beer should be sold in gas
stations. Gasoline and alcohol shouldn't be sold together.
- 13 -
._ .. _ _ __ _--__. w._-_ _ _ _ . _ _. .
